It can come in handy if you need to smooth the surface of your subject before you put it in the oven. You may also soften "old" firm clay by adding a few drops and kneading the clay. Making a slurry of polymer clay and clay softener oil is a great way to mend cracks and blemishes.
Morezmore Tip: This oil works for thinning Genesis paints and for smoothing the paint on the baked clay surface for subtle blushing.
